Emus – 1 year olds

We started with adult Emus over 13 years ago. Devoting daily hours to careful study and observations to their habits and needs. We provide as natural a habitat as possible. Our personal knowledge/experience, emu thrive best in a habitat size of at least 3 acres, with plenty of mixed vegetation, a watering hole large enough to cool off, bathe and splash around in. Emu are not a solitary bird and prefer companionship of at least one other emu. They are protective of each other and their perceived territory. They will guard against most intruders. They do need to be taught, that whatever other animals you have belong there. All of our Emu co-parent with at least their primary mate and sometimes secondary mate and grandmother helping protect and teach the chicks during their first 7 months of life. We do not sell emu chicks for many reasons.
