This is the Best Kayak Canoe Boat Lumber Ladder trailer you’ve ever seen!
We started with a boat trailer and built the rest. At the time that was six of us, so we needed to be able to take six kayaks or canoes, and all the life vests, paddles, etc.
Specs as follows:
TOTAL Length is 21’ 8” with a 2” ball.
Wheels are 14” with 205/75/14 tires in good condition.
Width (outside fender to outside fender) is 96”
Total height of trailer to top of upper kayak rest is 72” without the kayak.
The top shelf on the trailer is 76” wide and flat, so anything you can lift up there you can put up there. Canoes, kayaks, skiff, etc.
This trailer started as a boat trailer. We removed everything, built and welded the structure, sandblasted everything, applied two coats of primer, followed by two coats of paint.
I built this not to sell, but for myself. I wanted to be able to take the entire family kayaking, without worrying about the length or weight of our kayaks.
I also put an aluminum diamond plate box on the back for the extra stuff. The aluminum diamond plate box is 61” wide.
The vertical supports are made with 3” steel square tube. The horizontal kayak rests and mast center support are 2” square tube, with the exception of the bottom row kayak rests, which are all 3” square tube.
I installed all new wiring and LED lights.
The kayaks on the trailer in these pictures are not included in the price of the trailer, but will be offered separately. Just for perspective, the Ocean Kayak is 15’ long, and the Hurricane kayak is 14’ long. They fit easily on the trailer with plenty of room.
Finally, let’s talk about color, specifically, purple! My wife loves purple, you might not… ☺ If you look closely you’ll notice that the purple pads are actually pool noodles, which are sold everywhere, in any color imaginable, and are as cheap as dirt… ☺
They’re attached with heavy zip ties, easy and cheap. So if you don’t like the color you can put new pool noodles on for about $20 including the zip ties. I wanted to keep it simple. They work perfectly!
I really don’t know what to ask for this because I can’t find anything comparable anywhere. I’m going to start at $1500 and we’ll see what happens. Reasonable offers considered, as well as interesting trades. Every time we took this trailer out, people wanted to buy it, so we’ll see…
I’ll be happy to email many high resolution pics upon request
